Job Description:

Develops applications, using Java, Spring, Java Persistence API (JPA), Oracle, and Javascript. Migrates large applications to Cloud in IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

Participates in architecture design teams.

Defines and implements application level architecture.

Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

Advises senior management on technical strategy.

Mentors junior team members.

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience analyzing, designing, developing, and testing scalable Cloud based software applications using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in the Financial or Technology Services industries.

Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience analyzing, designing, developing, and testing scalable Cloud based software applications using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in the Financial or Technology Services industries.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (DE) analyzing, designing, developing, and testing scalable Cloud based software applications, using SOA, Java/J2EE, Spring, and JPA (Hibernate or MyBatis); and building, deploying, and running secure Java (JVM) applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure Cloud service providers.

DE migrating monolithic applications to micro-services architecture, using Java/J2EE, Spring, ORM related frameworks, and relational NoSQL databases -- Oracle and MongoDB; containerizing Java based applications using Docker; deploying Java applications running in embedded Tomcat server to Kubernetes based Cloud environments in AWS; configuring continuous build and automated deployment, using Git, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, and Artifactory; and streaming Java application logs and telemetry tools -- Datadog or AppDynamics.

DE performing unit testing of Java/J2EE application according to Test Driven and Behavioral Driven Development methodologies (TDD and BDD), using Junit and Mockito frameworks; performing functional and integration testing, using Spring testing framework and in-memory H2 database; and developing and testing applications using integrated development environments (IDE) -- Intellij, Eclipse, SQL Developer, and Webstorm.

DE implementing technology strategies for a suite of enterprise applications; managing risks and providing mitigation plans for technology projects throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in an Agile environment; integrating systems with proven integration and data migration patterns -- real-time integration, messaging, file transfer, and shared databases; and implementing User Experience Designs (UxDs) using front-end technologies -- Angular or ReactJS.
