Summary The Content Marketing Associate will provide writing,
storytelling, content curation, and analytics to elevate the brand,
success and impact of Educate Texas and its programs. Reporting to
the Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications, this position
will collaborate with internal teams (program, policy, insights,
development, finance) to develop and create compelling content
across multiple platforms, including social media channels,
websites, newsletters, reports, graphics, printed materials, etc.
The ideal candidate must be a highly creative and resourceful
storyteller and content creator who knows how to translate complex
topics into easy-to-understand content and wants to make a
difference in education. We're looking for a strategic thinker with
expertise in story mining who can discover story ideas and run with
them. This position will be based in Dallas, TX with occasional
travel statewide, when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, write, edit, proofread, and produce content and
communication materials, including feature stories, articles,
e-newsletters, blogs, web & social media content, ad copy, and
special publications
- Support the Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications
with the development and implementation of a comprehensive content
plan that promotes key messages and maintains fresh and relevant
content across the various owned media channels (i.e., social
media, websites, landing pages, blogs, email, etc.)
- Create, schedule, and analyze social media campaigns (via
Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn). Manage multiple email marketing
campaigns (via MailChimp) including independently writing/reviewing
messages, scheduling delivery, and managing distribution lists
- Develop content calendars on a weekly and monthly basis
- Serve as a steward of consistency in style and tone on
content
- Monitor and review defined metrics by using tracking tools such
as dashboards, Google Analytics, social media metrics, etc. to
summarize and report results and apply learnings to improve content
and provide recommendations
- Coordinate interviews with internal and external subject matter
experts
- Support the design of visual assets and templates using the
Adobe Creative Cloud suite or Canva graphic creation platform
- Generate creative storytelling ideas and also lead execution of
these ideas
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Assist marketing and communications team in planning and
activities, budget support, and other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Skills / Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications,
English, Advertising or similar field, or relevant work
experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience writing, proofreading,
and creating content
- Submission of three (3) or more written samples
- Outstanding organizational, communication, writing, editing and
people skills
- Strong understanding of content channels and the ability to
adapt your writing style to fit each unique audience
- Proven ability to learn quickly, work efficiently and manage
multiple projects and priorities at once, while working in a
fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of desktop publishing, graphic design and
website maintenance software/tools
- Demonstrated ability to both work independently with minimal
supervision and work with others within a collaborative work
environment
- Experience working with stakeholders/SME's to craft compelling
articles, newsletters and messaging
- Familiarity with education issues in Texas, as well as on a
national level a plus
- Superb writing and editing skills. Storytelling in all of its
forms - you identify the key moments, strategic storylines and
opportunities to spotlight the organization and the stakeholders
within the ecosystem
- Digital and social media proficiency: knowledgeable of
up-to-date digital best practices including but not limited to
website and content management, email marketing (MailChimp), online
survey tools (Survey Monkey), Google platforms (AdWords, Double
Click, Analytics, Docs), organic, earned and paid social media
tactics and tools (Hootsuite and Meltwater), and the internet as a
resource and tool
- Strong project management, time management and organizational
skills illustrating ability to pinpoint and prioritize multiple
tasks and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design principles and
familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite products are preferred
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, forward-thinking
and creative
- Working knowledge and application of SEO standards in content
development
- Effectively model and demonstrate CFT's core competencies which
