Job Description:

Immune Specific Accountabilities- Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.- Responsible for immediately reporting flight/product safety concerns.- Participates in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.- Recognizes and understands the Just Culture policy.Specific Accountabilities- Performs engineering analysis related to engine reliability and life cycle management including reviewing and analyzing data related to various jet engine and component failure modes, conducting or assisting with root cause analyses, and performing reliability calculations.- Designs, implements, and maintains engine failure data collection and analysis tools.- Creates and maintains a Failure Analysis database to maintain a history of failure modes and components. Gathers reliability data from field studies or database, correlates failure data with maintenance practices or operational use, and periodically reviews and analyzes data using standard engineering techniques / principles / procedures to identify and analyze trends.- Develops large and small-scale system models to simulate and predict engine reliability and to anticipate failure occurrences using advanced reliability modeling tools.- Constructs cost models associated with various reliability improvement strategies.- Serves as liaison with senior management and engineering staff on reliability issues, including identifying failure mode trends and methods to minimize risks associated with them.- Serves as the prime contact with assigned customers for the interchange of strategic reliability data.- As required, provides engineering support to service engineers and other personnel collecting reliability and failure data, and in the determination of failure modes.- Participates in projects as a team member and/or team project leader.- Coordinates activities with the Director of Reliability Engineering and other reliability engineers.- Manages approved project timelines. Produces periodic project status reports comparing actual to forecasted timeline.- Writes detailed technical reports to document information related to the understanding of relevant failure modes and the results of reliability analyses, prepares proposals &develops work instructions. Prepares and delivers presentations of analysis results to appropriate staff and customers.- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.- Carries out special duties as assigned.Technical Requirements- Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.- Working knowledge and/or experience with databases and Visual Basic Programming.- Working knowledge of statistics and mathematical analysis.- Working knowledge of gas turbine engines and specific product knowledge.- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.- Strong project management skills.- Thorough knowledge of company instruction, company process and quality manuals.- Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, aerospace, or reliability engineering, or equivalent.- In jurisdictions governed by a regulatory body or with an association that is governed by local legal requirements, registration is required.- Experience with project management in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.- Familiarity with airline maintenance practices, systems, and publications.Background InformationThe typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work. The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation. Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is three to six years. Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals, but no (or minimal) direction with respect to what action steps to follow. The incumbent's education, training, and previous experience will help ensure that the goal of the assignment can be clearly defined and understood (even if that means just knowing what relevant questions to ask). The required/optional approaches to achieving the goal will often remain unclear, undefined and/or untested until the work assignment is well underway.
