Job Description:
SummaryCostar Technologies is seeking a Component Engineer to
oversee the proper selection of components for electrical and
mechanical assemblies used in a wide range of security and
surveillance camera systems, ranging from high-volume,
cost-effective solutions to high-end, ruggedized military grade
systems. This is a hands-on role that involves testing and
installing these components to ensure they are of the highest
quality before utilizing them in a product. - The Component
Engineer will also work with engineering and procurement teams,
component manufacturers and suppliers to create and manage accurate
component data. Responsibilities
Identification of alternative
components based on accurate comparison of datasheet
specifications, cost, and availability.Proactively manage component
End of Life (EOL) and last time buy (LTB) announcements.Perform
compliance testing tasks for certifying existing and new products,
including testing both in-house and at the test labs.Review
regulatory compliance standards and performance feasibility
analysis.Collaborate with mechanical and electronics
engineers.Understand and follow Costar processes, design practices,
and documentation templates.Create and maintain engineering
documentation.Support Contract Manufacturing and vendor
issues.EducationBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or
similar engineering discipline.Skills and Qualifications
3 or more years of experience in a
component engineer role.In-depth knowledge of regulatory
requirements and approval processes for UL, FCC/CE
certifications.Experience with complex electro-mechanical systems
is desired.Hands-on experience in component evaluation and
selection, design validation and qualification.
Experience with using engineering
test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Power
Supplies, ISNs and Spectrum Analyzers.Experience maintaining BOMs,
ECOs, and documentation around product lifecycle.Must have basic
soldering/re-work skills.Ability to work and efficiently
communicate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.Excellent
organizational skills -Work Conditions
40-hour/week on-site.Some travel may
be required - less than 20%.Office, Engineering lab and commercial
test lab environment. Physically able to participate in training
sessions, presentations, and meetings.Collecting, transporting,
setting up, tearing down and using lab equipment, instrumentation,
