Chief Development Officer
Reports To: Executive DirectorDirectly Supervises: Development Associates (2)Department/Campus: DevelopmentPrimary Work Site: Lumin East Dallas CampusSummary:The Chief Development Officer (CDO) serves as the principal development staff person overseeing all fundraising and external communications activities. The CDO is responsible for managing an ambitious program to secure major individual gifts and orchestrating a comprehensive fund-raising program to include individual, foundation, and corporate gifts. The CDO is also responsible for the execution of capital and expansion campaigns, the annual fund, the planned giving and endowment programs, and donor stewardship. The CDO oversees Lumin's organizational brand identity and the strategic use of communications to reach donors and recruit students.The CDO also serves as the primary liaison to Lumin's Board of Sponsors and represents Lumin in the philanthropic community. Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Responsible for orchestrating major individual gifts
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, cultivates and maintains relationships with new and existing major donors including communications, tours, and cultivation events
  • Plans and oversees donor cultivation and retention to ensure all donor needs are met and fundraising goals are achieved
  • Responsible for representing Lumin in the philanthropic community
  • Works with the Board of Directors and Board of Sponsors to ensure good working relationships
  • Develops actionable strategies for meeting and exceeding fundraising goals
  • Supervises and directs the Development Team as they implement a 12-month development plan including short and long term goals
  • Develops new revenue streams for expansion of the organization's fundraising efforts
  • Participates with Chief Level staff members in setting and implementing the strategic direction of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree;
    • Minimum of 8 years fundraising experience, preferred;
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with non-profit communications and marketing;
    • Proven experience representing organizations publicly to diverse audiences;
    • Experience with Raisers Edge preferred;
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Strong personnel management skills;
    • Proven experience and interest in working in a highly collaborative environment;
    • Respect for cultural, ethnic, socio-economic, and linguistic diversity;
    • Willingness to learn about Montessori pedagogy.
