Job Description:
General AccountabilityReports Directly To: Vice President,
Commercial Programs Reports Functionally To: Vice President, Global
Supply ChainProvides professional strategic and tactical materials
management for the business unit materiel function. Functionally
responsible for developing inventory planning, procurement, and
warehousing process improvements. Develops and implements
strategies to maintain the inventory investments at levels that
achieve service performance and inventory turnover ratio
objectives. Provides direction for strategic sourcing activities
and maintains intelligence on global supplies for the business
unit's products. Identifies, develops and introduces improvements
within the business unit to improve materials control and service
levels. Recommends and participates in the development of policies
and procedures related to materiel.Direct Reports Include: Manager,
PlanningImmune Specific Accountabilities- Recognizes and
understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.-
Responsible for immediately reporting flight/product safety
concerns.- Participates in proactive risk analysis of
flight/product safety critical parts and processes.- Recognizes and
understands the Just Culture policy.Specific Accountabilities-
Ensures required materials, consumables, components,
sub-assemblies, engines, tools, equipment, and staffing levels are
available to meet production plans.- Ensures materials inventory
levels are appropriate and work-in-process levels minimized to meet
production and trade working capital (TWC) requirements.- Directs
the approval and control of the purchasing and logistics
functions.- Analyses materials sources and strategically directs
the mix of new, surplus, overhauled and repairable materiel, as
well as, the selection of repair and overhaul vendors.- Ensures
vendor development programs are appropriate and pursues supplier
agreements, partnerships, consignment inventories and other
strategic vendor relationships. Promotes the company's image with
vendors and works to achieve the best value for purchasing spend.-
Participates in developing, amending and issuing materiel policy
and procedures for the business unit. Ensures that changes in
methods and operating practices are introduced with minimum
disruption to production, support and service center areas.-
Promotes continuous improvement ensuring that "best practices" are
implemented for all aspects of materials management.- Ensures
appropriate materials measures of performance are developed,
reported regularly, are trending favorably and are promoting
improvement in materiel management.- Reviews business unit
logistics handling capabilities, ensuring the most appropriate
logistics techniques are in place to meet customer requirements.-
Ensures adequate resources are devoted to selling off surplus stock
in the most effective and cost efficient manner.- Ensures that U.S.
and domestic export requirements are understood and properly
implemented by all materiel staff.- Exercises authority in hiring,
training, career development, performance appraisal, salary
adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general
employee relations of direct reports.- Actively participates in the
appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and
realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.-
Carries out special projects as assigned.Technical Requirements-
Thorough knowledge of procurement, production, inventory, financial
and business control systems.- Strong planning, organizational,
analytical, negotiation, leadership, interpersonal, decision
making, oral and written communication skills.- Thorough knowledge
of related company instructions, company processes and quality
requirements.- Working knowledge of PC's in the current company
operating system environment.- Working knowledge of
Aerospace/Defense industrial business and logistics practices.-
University degree in business administration, commerce, economics
or related field; or equivalent.- Recognized purchasing or
inventory control designation (PMAC, APIC, CPIM); or equivalent.

InformationThe typical minimum level of education to perform this
job competently is equivalent to completion of a university
(bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work. The
work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical
principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an
understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of
the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree
and/or professional designation.Directly/indirectly related work
experience representing continuous learning and required for
someone to perform this job competently is three to six
years.Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined
goals, but no (or minimal) direction with respect to what action
steps to follow. The incumbent's education, training, and previous
experience will help ensure that the goal of the assignment can be
clearly defined and understood (even if that means just knowing
what relevant questions to ask), but the required/optional
approaches to achieving the goal will often remain unclear,
undefined and/or untested until the work assignment is well
underway.Must be authorized to work in the U.S.Required
