  • The Director of Credit Recovery and Acceleration will directly supervise, evaluate, and monitor all Dallas ISD credit recovery and accelerated programs and staff by implementing efforts that promote increased graduation rates including, Reconnection, Reconnection Plus +, Freshman On-Track Initiative, Evening Academy, Grad Lab, Phoenix 2.0, and the Reconnection Extended Year (Summer).
  • Direct operation and coordination for Fall and Summer graduation ceremonies.
  • Provide best practices regarding intervention and direct instruction to all -comprehensive high schools, early college high schools, and magnet centers concerning credit recovery and acceleration.
  • Implement and manage departmental strategy for programs responsible for providing -high quality services and instruction to students for timely graduation, in the following -programs, Reconnection Centers and online Extended Year Learning for high schools.
  • Direct the development of systems that increase and accelerate the overall -effectiveness of credit recovery and acceleration programs for system support, -responsive services, guidance curriculum and individual student planning and higher -education and counseling services delivery system in the areas of system support, -responsive services, guidance curriculum and individual student planning and higher -education.
  • Directly support efforts of high school counselors to implement a comprehensive -program for severely at-risk students through all Credit Recovery Programs.
  • Develop program budgets based on documented program needs, estimated enrollment, -personnel, and other fiscal needs; keep programs within budget limits; maintain fiscal -control; and ensure accurate reporting of fiscal information.
  • Implement and manage departmental strategy for programs responsible for providing -high quality services and instruction to students for timely graduation, in all credit -recovery and acceleration programs.
  • Monitor the management of academic achievement, career development and social -and emotional development at all credit recovery / acceleration center labs to ensure -adherence to counseling services comprehensive program.
  • Evaluate and report on trends, including best practices in counseling services and -develop appropriate programs to implement.
  • Implement and monitor the execution of the secondary school improvement support -plan designed around the -customized needs of school and students served; accelerate student achievement to standards and provide ongoing support to counselors, -facilitators and staff.
  • Monitor student achievement in secondary schools the performance targets that -integrate into the district's Action Plan as it is developed, executed, monitored and -evaluated.
  • Partner with external providers of college access services, tutoring services, and -mentoring services to ensure excellence and equitable distribution of external supports. Qualifications
    • Master's degree from an accredited university in educational administration or -other areas related.
    • Texas standard Principal -certificate or mid-management -certificate preferred.
    • 5 plus years in direct experience. -
    • Proven track record of leading change management initiatives, developing staff, and engaging stakeholders.
    • Understanding of the functions and operations of a large public-school district.
    • Ability to function effectively with all levels of management within and across district departments.
    • Competency to meet the communications diversity of the community and district, staff members and -the public at large.
    • Capacity to write reports and plan documents requiring technical precision, accuracy, readability and -editorial correctness.
