Overall Purpose: Collaborates with an internal and external team to analyze and interpret existing law and upcoming tax legislation (primarily state and local, but also federal and foreign) to advise to the tax implication of specific transactions as well as identify opportunities to minimize the organizations. Management of state income and franchise tax audits. Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Supports federal research and planning team in providing support to Corporate Development on M&A transactions, Treasury on financing transactions, Corporate Real estate on real estate transactions, and various network and fixed asset teams on network transactions.
• Conducts tax research to advise clients and management of the tax implications of transactions.
• Develop a deep understanding of AT&T's legal entity structure, accounting, and business operations to recommend restructuring or changes in tax accounting methods that will reduce cash income tax or reduce tax expense.
• Documents income tax positions for other groups within the tax department on a timely basis. Provides support of how to report positions on tax returns.
• Manage large and complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and drive those projects to completion.
• Responsible for meeting all required deadlines.
• Manage state income and franchise tax audits including review of responses to audit requests, drafting and reviewing protests, communications / coordination with auditors from various jurisdictions.
• Coordination and collaboration with internal and outside attorneys on audit litigation.
• Management of cash tax and P&L impacts for audits.
• Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in effective ways.
• Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in effective ways.
• Exercises judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Education: Bachelors Degree required. Advanced degree preferred. Experience: Typically requires 10 or more years of experience. Supervisory: No. Location: Dallas, TX Work Schedule: Office (In office 3 or more days per week including every Tuesday and Thursday).
