Safety Manager Are you a certified utility safety professional
looking for a leadership role in a dynamic, veteran-owned
Texas-based company? Do you have experience in utility grade
electrical construction and a passion for promoting a culture of
safety? If so, HumCap's client is looking for a Safety Manager to
lead and strengthen their Safety Culture through conscientious
leadership, training, compliance, and accountability.
Company: Our client is a veteran-owned Texas-based company that
brings a team of experienced professionals to help their clients
execute their civil engineering infrastructure projects with
quality, integrity, efficiency and safety; projects including:
- Construction Inspection
- Program and Project Management
- Project Controls and Data Reporting
- Energy Solutions
- Environmental Compliance
- Material Management and Expediting
Their typical clients are power delivery utilities, renewable power
generators, power storage owners/developers, and large load
facilities. They focus on living their core values, taking care of
their employees, and providing excellent customer service.
Overview: The Safety Manager position is responsible for leading
and strengthening the safety culture of a Texas-based company that
focuses on executing civil engineering infrastructure projects for
clients in the power delivery, renewable power generation, power
storage, and large load facility sectors. The role requires
developing and managing a safety program that promotes a workplace
where everyone goes home safe every day, managing a schedule of
training courses, ensuring compliance with relevant safety
regulations, and performing safety inspections for clients. The
Safety Manager will also be responsible for creating and
maintaining a list of client safety requirements, identifying
potential OSHA violations, and assisting with accident
investigations and OSHA inspections. The ideal candidate will have
at least three years of related experience and a relevant college
degree, or over five years of related experience. Experience in
utility grade electrical construction and certification as a
Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Green are highly
preferred. The candidate must also possess an OSHA 30-hour
certification and first aid/CPR certified trainer. Strong
leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
are essential. The ability to work in a remote environment and hold
others accountable is also required. The salary range for the
position is $110-130K DOE, and the company offers health, dental,
vision, 401k, LT disability, ST disability, life insurance, and PTO
benefits. Location: Texas, DFW metroplex is preferred, estimated
50% work from home Salary Range: $110-140K DOE Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
- Lead in developing a Safety Culture and Safety Program that
promotes a workplace where everyone goes home safe every
day.
- Develop, manage, and hold the team accountable to a schedule of
training courses that will address specific workplace risks that
team members are currently faced with and general industry safety
topics. We may utilize a third-party learning management system to
provide some trainings so this role is not responsible for
performing every training.
- Plan for and run reoccurring company safety meetings for the
company. Cover relevant safety topics and training to facilitate
and grow our safety culture.
- Ensure the Company stays compliant with the following items and
any others that apply to the Company:
- Emergency Action Plans
- OSHA 300 Logs
- Employee safety bulletins that need to be posted
- OSHA posters that need to be posted (provide
electronically)
- Safety Data Sheets
- Required training and associated logs
- Perform safety inspections for our clients. This will be
billable work as a safety inspector for our team. Inspection scope
will vary from client to client, but generally, the inspections
will be performed at construction sites, validating that the Client
and the client's contractors are complying with OSHA and applicable
environmental, health, & safety programs. We expect this effort may
be up to 50% of this role's time until the size requires more
internal focus.
- Audit current policies and performance on the applicable safety
and health regulations. Own the Company's policies and adherence to
those policies going forward:
- Review Wind safety manuals. Provide feedback and recommend any
program changes. Provide support throughout the year to ensure that
we are staying compliance with its own safety program and OSHA
standards.
- Provide guidance on best practices to train team on safety
manual. Help us make sure that our personnel understand and are
compliant with our own program.
- Determine whether workplace safety requirements, company
policies and operating procedures regarding compliance, are being
followed
- Assess and maintain management systems and record keeping
practices currently in place to ensure compliance.
- Keep Company compliant with customer mandated safety management
systems such as ISNetworld.
- Lead any necessary courses of action to get us compliant.
- Create and maintain a list of client's safety requirements from
each contract the Company enters, then push client facing personnel
and management to stay compliant.
- Perform site visits to client jobsites. Site locations and
frequency should be based on addressing the Company's highest
risks.
- Inspect client worksites and personnel to make sure we are
following safety standards and inspect the overall site safety to
make sure all contractors that we're overseeing are following
general safety standards and their respective safety
policies.
- Identify any potential OSHA violations and assist with
mitigating violations. Provide a report of sustains, improves, and
lessons learned following the inspection.
- Compile OSHA records as needed, ensure that PS companies are
currently up to date and have full documentation as
required.
- Respond to assist with any accident investigation, OSHA
inspection, OSHA mitigations, and answer questions on best
practices as risks arise in the field, to include, but not limited
to:
- On-Site Inspection assistance during OSHA inspections
- Compliance Demonstration and Records request after OSHA
inspections
- OSHA Citations response
- OSHA informal hearing response
- Abatement Projects and Corrective Action assistance with
OSHA
- Develop a new hire safety orientation and deliver that training
to all new hires.
Qualifications/Education/Experience:
- Requires at least three (3) years related experience and
relevant college degree, or over five (5) years related
experience
- Experience in utility grade electrical construction highly
preferred
- Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Green
certification preferred
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- First Aid / CPR certified trainer
- Experience with online applications and Microsoft suite is
required
Must also have the following demonstrated knowledge, skills, and
abilities:
- Leadership skills to see vision of where safety improvements
are needed and guide company through those improvements.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy are
critical
- Strong sense of organization and accountability even in the
remote work environment
- Capable of holding others accountable through respective
interactions
- Strong teamwork, problem solving, and training skills are
essential
- Considerable skill in effective verbal and written
communications
- Highly motivated, positive attitude, self-directed
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a
computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel for extended periods in a vehicle,
airplane or other transportation means
Compensation:
- $110-140K DOE
