Job Description Reporting to the Regional President of Company (COMPANY), the Hospital President is fully accountable for the operational and clinical oversight of Baylor University Medical Center and all related ambulatory services. He/she will be responsible for all aspects of quality/safety, service and financial performance of the organization. The President has overall responsibility for: Creating and supporting the unique culture at BUMC that is consistent with COMPANY Mission, Ambition, and Values and emphasizes the needs and desires of patients, members and families served by the organization along with the commitment to education and research. Setting the operational and business strategy at BUMC to align with the system Strategy and promoting the Mission, Ambition, and Values of COMPANY. Implementing and executing the operational and budget strategy of BUMC including but not limited to: Adopting and modeling a rigorous approach to hospital-wide performance improvement to ensure important processes and activities are measured, assessed and improved systematically and that decision-making focuses on data and reflects prioritization with strategic plan. Overseeing safety, quality of care, and service always striving to achieve top decile outcomes. Functions in a matrixed and partnership arrangement with other COMPANY administrative and shared services leaders. Delivers on targeted outcomes in quality, safety, patient experience, employee and physician engagement, as well as financial performance. Directing the overall operation of the hospital's entire inpatient and outpatient services as required by the Medicare Conditions of Participation and the Joint Commission as well as other specialty program specific designations. Participating in system-wide initiatives, policy decisions, and other system efforts affecting the hospital. Collaborating with community leaders and hospital, physician and facility team members to design services. Providing programs, services and an organizational climate conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating the best talent and generating the people commitments necessary to accomplish the mission. In carrying out these responsibilities, the President: Works with the BUMC Advisory Board and matrixed BUMC and COMPANY senior leaders in the development of objectives, policies and operating plans for the organization. Facilitates BUMC strategy development for growth of the organization in response to the changing health care needs of the community and consistent with the COMPANY Strategy. Ensures that BUMC’s and COMPANY’s policies are uniformly understood, properly interpreted and implemented by the management team. Ensures the attainment of BUMC’s objectives and goals through the effective administration of business operations. Responds to the community's need for quality health care services by monitoring the organization's clinical activities and closely coordinating with Medical Staff in achieving and maintaining the required standards of clinical performance. Analyzes the operating results of the organization and its principle components relative to established goals and objectives and ensures that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory performance and conditions. Ensures compliance with all regulations governing health care delivery and the results of accrediting agencies by continually monitoring the overall operation of the organization's programs and initiating changes of broad scope when and where required. Develops and maintains a plan of organization. Establishes policies to ensure adequate management development and/or provide for stable management succession. Interviews, hires, directs, develops, evaluates and coaches subordinate executive staff. Qualifications Requires A Minimum Of 15 years of progressively more responsible administrative and managerial experience in hospital operations. Experience As A C-Level Operations Executive In An Academic Medical Center Is Preferred. Requires a Master's Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, clinical discipline, or related area.
