Experience and Education 3 - 4 years of Medical/Surgical or
IntensiveCare experience. Bachelor's degree in medical field
required. Bachelor's degreein Nursing preferred. Current Texas RN
(or BNE Compact State) license required.Current Basic Life Support
(BLS) required. Current CCTC preferred.
Job Duties Collects relevant clinical data using a systematic and
continuousprocess. Interprets tests and procedures based on
established evidence basedstandard of care.
Anticipates patient's and/or patient's family's expectations and
needs andutilizes them in conjunction with assessment to develop
appropriate plan ofcare for patient. Maintains and utilizes
competencies per unit expectations.Synthesizes data and patient
information relevant to organ specifictransplantation. Utilizes
critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizingnursing
Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based
onassessment. Completes documentation of interventions.
Coordinatesinterdisciplinary plan of care. Communicates plan of
care with family, patientand transplant team members.
Prioritizes nursing interventions based upon assessment. Identifies
changes incondition as evidenced by assessment, labs, x-rays, etc.
Reports changes andtakes follow-up action as appropriate.
Evaluates effectiveness of planned strategies in relation to the
patient'sattainment of expected outcomes. Uses ongoing assessment
data to revise theplan of care and expected outcomes. Documents
interventions and modificationsto plan of care.
Adheres to appropriate policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and
nationallyaccepted standards of nursing practice while delivering
care to patients.Suggests practices to enhance nursing care based
on current literature andresearch.
Provides transplant specific health teaching that addresses patient
self-monitoringand promotes self-care. Completes documentation of
all education provided.Obtains feedback and evaluation of
understanding from patient and family.Demonstrates effective
communication with children, adolescents, adults, andolder
Describes/maintains compliance with transplant regulatory policies
related toorgan allocation, candidate listing, and ABO and UNOS ID
verification forliving donors and/or recipients. Advocates for the
patient\'s medical and legalrights and promotes the informed
Responds to patient's and/or family's complaints in appropriate &
effectivemanner. Reports complaints to Clinical Nurse Manager or
designee in timelymanner. Utilizes chain of command to resolve
issues. Serves as advocate topatient and family.
Participates in QA/PI activities as directed. Attends at least 80%
of scheduledstaff meetings and 100% of mandatory educational
