excellence. Qualifications H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required.
Associate degree preferred. CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA
regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required. 3
years' experience in a medical setting required. PBT(ASCP) -
Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire preferred. 1 year supervisory
experience preferred. Possesses strong critical thinking, problem
solving, and organizational skills. Ability to function in a
fast-paced environment, positive interpersonal skills, good verbal,
and written communication skills, able to perform basic computer
skills. Position Responsibilities Texas Health Dallas Lead Clinical
Lab Assistant will follow laboratory procedure for specimen
collection, handling and processing in a manner which is
appropriate to the age of the patient. In addition to the required
qualifications, a successful Lead Clinical Lab Assistant will: Act
as a liaison between the laboratory and other departments Display
proficiency in all laboratory IS systems as they pertain to
laboratory data (i.e. CareConnect, SMS, ARUP, etc.) Coordinate
workflow for phlebotomy/processing department to maximize
efficiency Coordinate timed, routine, ASAP, and STAT draws to
prevent multiple sticks to the patient and to prevent excessive
blood volume draws Use two identifiers according to hospital policy
when collecting and processing specimens Process specimens
accurately and in a timely manner Perform Point of Care testing
Monitor tests ordered and adds on or cancels tests as needed
Respond to CODEs when appropriate Respond to requests to complete
difficult blood collection for hospital personnel Ensure test
orders are initiated and resolves any discrepancies Review
physician orders to ensure all tests are ordered in LIS Ensure
timed, ASAP and STAT draws are drawn and processed within
established time frames Communicate with nursing personnel as
needed to clarify orders or inform of specimen integrity issues
Understand and relay information on specimen requirements for
in-house and reference lab testing Ensure accurate entry of client
information and test orders into LIS Follow laboratory procedures
for handling unacceptable specimens Resolve pending specimen issues
Monitor tests ordered and adds on or cancels tests as needed Why
