Nurse Manager for the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is accountable for
the management, supervision, and evaluation of care delivered by
health care staff in the CCU. Incumbent is also responsible for
contributing to the establishment and implementation of nursing
standards of practice and care. As a nursing leader, the Nurse
Manager uses appropriate consultation with experts of each
discipline within his/her area to ensure that practice and
performance issues are addressed and resolved. The Nurse Manager is
a proficient clinical nurse in all areas of the unit: serving as
both a patient and staff advocate; leading and organizing delivery
of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for
practice, including access to care and discharge planning; using
advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement
in planning, decision making and evaluating outcomes; functioning
as a proficient nurse in clinical practice and/or areas related to
the assigned roles and responsibilities; systematically evaluating
current practice and formulating outcomes for groups for
patients/families and/or organizational processes within an area of
expertise; systematically evaluating current practice and
formulating outcomes for groups for patients and/or organizational
processes within an area of expertise; guiding, developing, and
supporting staff from a leadership perspective and assuring safe
staffing levels are established and maintained. Work Schedule:
Monday- Friday, 7:30am- 4:00pm or 7:00am- 3:30pm. There is a
requirement to work off tours and weekends to meet with staff as
needed. May be required to work other shifts, be on call, work
weekends and/or holidays as patient care and needs of the service

proficient in basic written and spoken English.Graduate of a school
of professional nursing approved by the appropriate
State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following
accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the
applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing
(ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In
cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing,
possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration
will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of
professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to
a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for
professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an
approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should
submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX
to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA
Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign
schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full,
active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for
graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.Current,

Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience: 3 years of current extensive ICU
experienceManagement experience of at least 3 years in an ICU
settingMSNCCRN certifiedExperience with LVADs, Impellas, Mitra
clips, IABPs, post op STEMI care, complex cardiac casesSelected
candidate must possess both extensive ICU experience and at least 3
years ICU management experience. Grade Determinations: The
following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment
of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:Nurse I
Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no
additional nursing practice/experience required.Nurse I Level II -
An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing
practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a
bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing
practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
with no additional nursing practice/experience.Nurse I Level III -
An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing
