      The essential functions of the Charge RN position include: -- Performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act -- Support daily operations of the department to include staffing/productivity and address patient, family and physician concerns -- In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the Charge RN assists in the management of a defined patient care area to provide a climate optimal for the provision of individualized, goal directed nursing care that supports the mission, vision and philosophy of Medical City McKinney -- The Charge RN is expected to practice autonomously utilizing evidence based practices -- Use therapeutic communication in daily practice -- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment -- Plan, implement and direct care using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of the individual patient -- Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding healthcare -- Promote an environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture -- Maintain quality, age specific care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients as assigned -- Proactively advocate for patients and consistently education patients/families throughout the continuum of care -- Delegate tasks to the appropriate level of staff -- Provide supervision of new employees, vocational nurses, nurse assistants, student nurses, nurse externs/interns -- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and responsible for other duties as assigned
      What qualifications you will need:
      • -- Level III Neonatal Intensive Care nursing experience within the last two years preferred -- Current RN licensure by the State of Texas or from a Compact State if you declare the Compact State your Primary State of Residence required -- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS required -- NRP required within 90 days of hire/transfer -- STABLE and Cardiac STABLE required within 18 months of hire. There is no requirement for renewal.
