Job Summary: The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for staffing and overseeing testing operations of assigned department. This role is highly visible, communicating regularly with senior leadership across the Arbor enterprise. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups and cross-functional teams is essential. Supervisory Responsibilities: _Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff._ _Oversees the daily workflow of the department._ _Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations._ _Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy._ _Performs other related duties as assigned._ Duties/Responsibilities: Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of services, delivery methods, workflows and procedures as needed Assesses and monitors the workload of Departmental employees and implements scheduling modifications as needed Oversees day-to-day operations within span of control Serves as an escalation point for staff and clients as needed Manages employee competency and performs training Ensures staff is performing at acceptable levels Required to perform key responsibilities of departmental employees as business needs demand Other duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent attention to detail Ability to work in a team environment Must be analyzed for color perception Education and Experience: Education: Bachelor's degree in a Biological, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science Meet CAP requirements (GEN.53600) for a General Supervisor Current certification as Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist or appropriate categorical certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)Experience: Minimum one year experience in high complexity testing in the designated specialty Relevant leadership experience Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
