passion.$10,000 Sign On Incentive--PRIMARY PURPOSEServes as a
Section Supervisor overseeing laboratory operations and serving as
a resource for technologists performing complex specimen processing
and testing to assist physicians in the diagnosis of
patients.--MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education- Must have a bachelor's
degree in Medical Technology or a related science field from a
regionally accredited college or university--Shift3rd
Shift----Experience- Must have six years of advanced to complex
level applicable clinical laboratory experience including one year
of experience in a lead capacity--Equivalent Education and/or
Experience - May have an equivalent combination of education and
experience to substitute for the experience
requirements.--Certification/Registration/Licensure - Must be
certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by on of the
following:

effective supervisory and interpersonal skills.--Responsibilities1.
Generic: - Selects, trains, motivates, supervises, and evaluates
assigned staff to ensure maximum utilization of individual and
group capabilities, appropriate staffing coverage of lab areas, and
optimal service to both internal and external customers. Instructs
and provides consultation to new employees, residents, students,
physicians, and other personnel. Serves as a resource person for
assigned staff and other hospital personnel as needed. Ensures that
assigned employees have opportunities to further their knowledge-
Ensures that specimens are received and assessed for specimen
integrity. Ensures that specimens are labeled and documented and
that data entry of orders is done accurately to ensure that
patients are appropriately billed.- Monitors operation of
activities to include quality control tasks, equipment testing,
maintenance and calibration, and handling of proficiency testing
samples.- Assists with the development, revision and implementation
of guidelines and procedures for the department that support the
missions and objectives of Pathology.- Coordinates special projects
that may include research and development, evaluation of products,
equipment, and/or methodologies as necessary.- Identifies and
analyzes the design of jobs, work processes/flows for Pathology and
implements or recommends appropriate changes to improve work
effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the
overall goals of PHHS.- Maintains knowledge of applicable rules,
regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact or govern
the assigned Pathology area. Develops effective internal controls
that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the
program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state,
and private health plans. Ensures that PHHS & Pathology is in
compliance. Reports any unethical or fraudulent behavior. Seeks
advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.-
Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends
in the field of Pathology by attending seminars/workshops as
required by PHHS and the Department of Pathology, and by reading
professional journals and PHHS publications. Actively participates
in professional organizations. Integrates knowledge gained into
current work practices.- Performs assigned management duties which
may include purchasing, payroll, management control system and
other reports, scheduling, and Quality Management activities, as
needed.--2. Pathology Service Center:- Supervises the daily
operations of the Pathology Service Center. Coordinates the planned
expansion, development, and operation of the Center. Assists with
the development, revision and implementation of guidelines and
procedures for the area.- Selects, trains, schedules, motivates,
supervises, evaluates, and makes recommendations for disciplinary
actions up to and including termination, to ensure maximum
utilization of individual and group capabilities. Assures
appropriate staffing coverage of Pathology Service Center and
optimal service to both internal and external customers. Instructs
and provides consultation to new employees, residents, students,
physicians and other personnel. Ensures that assigned employees
have opportunities to further their knowledge- Serves as the
Pathology Safety Officer (PSO) and chairperson for the Pathology
Safety Council. Responsible for leading the Safety Council in
fulfillment of Safety Program goals and compliance with safety
regulations.- Coordinates result reporting and report distribution
(i.e. critical values reporting, remote reporting and printed chart
reports to internal and external customers) for the laboratory
areas. Documents actions according to prescribed guidelines.-
Performs assigned management duties which may include oversight of
research functions, quality assurance activities, purchasing and
payroll.- Performs and/or supports special projects that may
include utilization review, test menu analysis, research and
development and expansion of laboratory services Identifies and
