Description Medical City Dallas - Children's HospitalRegistered Nurse / RN - Pediatrics Hematology / Oncology (Hem/Onc)Shift/Schedule: PRN Nights Program runs: July 31, 2022 through April 8, 20231 year of Pediatric Hem/Onc experience$70 per hour PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
* All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
* Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
* Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.
* During the course of the 36 week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
* Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There is no guarantee of hours by the hospital.
* Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.
* Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
* Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2022-2023 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.

Job ResponsibilitiesThe Pediatric Hematology / Oncology (Hem Onc) Registered Nurse (RN) performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on nursing process / outcomes for the Pediatric Service Line. The RN Pediatric Hem Onc will:

  • Determine the predictable or unpredictable health status and health needs of patients (individual and family) through interpretation of health data and preventive practice in collaboration with patients and interdisciplinary health care team members
  • Utilize a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient
  • Formulate a nursing care plan based on determination of nursing diagnoses and identified problems
  • Implement nursing care within the RN's scope of practice, including compliance with other laws that apply to the practice setting
  • Develop and implement teaching plans for patients/ families concerning promotion, maintenance and restoration of health

    • ADN required, BSN preferred
    • Current TX nursing license or valid compact license
    • Current BLS, issued by American Heart Association
    • PALS, required within 6 months of hire
    • Recent acute care experience required, pediatrics preferred
    • APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy / Biotherapy or ONS Provider required
    • Stem Cell experience preferred
    • CPHON certification required within 24 months of hire
