The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX actively seeks a dynamic and collaborative Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

The selected candidate will have the exciting opportunity to lead one of the nation's largest comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease programs. This recruitment is part of an ambitious strategic plan to significantly expand our team of world-class pediatric hematology/oncology investigators over the next five years. The successful applicant will join a division of 29 faculty with national reputations as clinicians and physician-scientists.

This role involves providing clinical care to pediatric patients with sickle cell disease and other classical hematological disorders. We seek candidates committed to scientific excellence, who bring energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking to lead a diverse and dynamic team in shaping the future of hematology and sickle cell research. *Highlights of our Sickle Cell Program:*



* One of the largest comprehensive Sickle Cell programs in the country, providing multidisciplinary outpatient, emergency, and inpatient care services to 1,000 active patients at two locations in the metroplex

* Features dedicated multidisciplinary clinics, including stroke neurologists and transfusion medicine specialists

* Serves as the lead site for the North Texas Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Trial Unit

* Supports clinical investigators and clinical trials through the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Research Office, which provides regulatory and trials management services with dedicated Hematology Coordinators

* Leads initiatives in curative therapies for Sickle Cell Disease in close partnership with our Cellular and Immunotherapies Program (CITP)

* Home to "The Dallas Newborn Cohort", an internationally valued database with comprehensive patient-level information on sickle cell genotype, clinical characteristics, treatment, and clinical care utilization, serving as a valuable resource for administration, quality improvement, and research

The ideal candidate will advance our program to national and international prominence, while seamlessly integrating basic science with clinical and translational research. We seek a visionary and creative researcher with a proven ability to build and lead teams. A strong record of high-quality scholarship, funding from institutional, foundation, industry, or government sources, and a collaborative approach to enhance current partnerships with investigators across various UTSW departments is essential. -

Clinical facilities include the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Health - Dallas, which is adjacent to UT Southwestern Medical Center, as well as Children's Health Plano and UT Southwestern Medical Center Frisco. As one of the nation's largest pediatric cancer and blood disease programs (approximately 300 new oncology and over 700 new hematology patients per year), in the nation's fourth-largest metropolitan area, UT Southwestern offers a superb milieu for career development.

*Candidate Requirements:*



* MD or DO degree required

* Must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Texas

* Board eligible or certified in Pediatric Hematology & Oncology

Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicant seeking less than a full-time status.
