Pastry Chef You will oversee and lead all operations of the Pastry Kitchen and drive creativity within the team. What's in it for you: * Paid time off * Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401K * Complimentary Shift Meal * Employee benefit card offering discounted rates in Accor worldwide * Learning programs through our Academy designed to sharpen your skills * Ability to make a difference through our Corporate Social Responsibility activities, such as Planet 21 * Career development opportunities with national and international promotion opportunities What you will be doing: * Showcase your creativity and skills in organizing the Pastry production * Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Pastry Kitchen * Work with the Pastry and culinary team closely to ensure successful kitchen operations * Responsible for the overall pastry production * Collaborate with your Pastry team and co-workers in the various kitchens and provide support for the kitchen team throughout service * Exercise good judgment and intuition to anticipate needs of the Pastry and kitchen team * Assist with ordering, inventory controls and month-end reporting * Lead, mentor and develop the culinary team * Ensure smooth operations between the front and back of house * Understand the importance of food cost and help plan the menus, in conjunction with the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef to take advantage of the seasonal fluctuations of the market * Assist in the preparation of menus and test products for different outlets * Ensure quality of product when purchasing items; inspect upon delivery * Communicate and participate in plate presentation for outlets and banquet functions as well as actively communicating new presentations and concepts * Ensure that proper cooking techniques and standardized recipes are followed in order to keep up consistency with finished products * Handle day-to-day staffing and ensure levels are met according to business * Responsible for the training, re-training and motivation of employees * Responsible for performance management and timely feedback to employees * Ensure that internal and external guest concerns are dealt with in a professional manner * Ensure all hotel and kitchen policies, procedures and standards are being followed * Conducts staff meetings to communicate event functions and VIP guests * Maintain the highest standards of sanitation * Comply with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the hotel health and safety program * Other duties as assigned Your experience and skills include: * Valid Trade Qualifications required and Culinary Art diploma an asset * Minimum of 5 years of cooking/baking experience * Previous supervisory experience * Strong plated dessert experience and experience with volume, an asset * Experience in hotel culinary operations with detailed experience in all areas of the kitchen an asset * Must Hold Valid Manager Food Handlers Certificate * Creative and passionate about food and customer service * Able to work in a high-pressure environment * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team player Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
