Nationwide, KIPP students complete four-year college at a rate of 36 percent, comparable to the national average for all students and approximately three times higher than the average of students from low-income communities.Job DescriptionAbout the OpportunityThe Director of Talent Recruitment - SSP & ESSER will execute and ensure the success of KIPP Texas Public School hiring needs are met under the grant Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER). As the Director of Talent Recruitment - SSP & ESSER, you will help facilitate the KIPP Texas Talent Recruitment Team implementation of the Federal Programs under (ESSER) to ensure success for recruiting and hiring. The Director of Talent Recruitment -SSP & ESSER will be responsible for implementing and organizing any compliance requirements related to recruiting and hiring new employees to KIPP Texas under ESSER funding. The Director of Talent Recruitment -SSP& ESSER will specialize in the theory and practice of attracting diverse, top-caliber candidates. As a leader on the KIPP Texas Talent Recruitment team, they will work with stakeholders across the organization to foster equity-driven talent attraction practices, establish partnerships, and enact strategies to build the diversity and caliber of applicant pools. They will assist in executing the vision and direction for recruitment under School Support Partners (SSP) and ESSER, talent attraction and nurturing, sourcing, and pipeline strategy; manage the recruitment team in executing those strategies and related events; and ensure we build an applicant pool that reflects the diversity of our students and embodies the values of KIPP Texas Public Schools.Duties and Essential Job Functions:

  • Vision and Direction:
  • Articulate a theory of action for the attraction of top-quality candidates who reflect the diversity of backgrounds of our students for key roles across the organization.
  • Articulate a plan for four critical areas: 1) ESSER Recruitment, 2) Assist in the developing effective and efficient hiring processes and protocols School Support Partners (SSP), 3) building capacity, 4) and pipeline strategy.
  • Articulate a system of data that creates visibility into strategy. Translate that data into visible insights that highlight trends, outline a plan for proactive action, and share progress with various stakeholders and internal client groups.
  • Client Services: Provides exemplary support to their internal clients, the leaders of the hiring portfolios (particularly School Support Partners and Instructional Leadership), understanding and meeting their needs for talent pools in hard-to-staff roles. Other duties may include: facilitating vision setting and change management conversations, articulating a service-level agreement, establishing a clear and compelling plan for the arc of the year for each recruitment season, investing stakeholders in key actions to facilitate progress throughout the arc of the year, providing regular updates on recruitment position using clear and accurate data, and illustrating responsiveness to client needs to address ongoing strategic opportunities.
  • Team Management: Assist in building a results-driven, mission-oriented team culture for the fleet of recruiters supporting Academic Recovery roles through establishing a clear vision for success; hiring, building, developing and retaining strong performers; demonstrate clear, concise direction, feedback, and coaching; hold recruiters and recruitment managers accountable for meeting targets and adjusting course as necessary in pursuit of goals.
  • Team Leader: serve as a key leader on the greater KIPP Texas Talent Recruitment Team; collaborate with fellow recruitment team leaders to enhance state-wide strategy and evolve in service of the pursuit of 100,000 KIPPsters served in KIPP schools state-wide.
  • Relationship Management: Manage key partnership relationships with external partners in service of generating and cultivating strong talent for KIPP Texas and building and sustaining recruitment systems. Set the groundwork for and subsequently execute partnerships - formal and informal - that support the pursuit of greater diversity and quality of candidate pools for School Support Partner and Leadership roles. Implement practices for year-on-year lead nurturing of compelling potential candidates - work that will support the continued growth of KIPP Texas in the years to come.
  • Drive Results: Ensure that recruitment is in ESSER compliance and that hiring goals are met. Ensure that application volume, diversity, and quality targets are met. Ensures both internal client teams and recruiters are set up for success. Hold self and others accountable for progress to goals and adjust course as necessary to ensure goals are met. Reports progress regularly and concisely explains insights and forthcoming actions.Additional Responsibilities and Duties
  • Oversee all Talent Recruitment ESSER and Academic Recovery activities.
  • Review/certify recruitment hiring to ensure sufficient funding, accuracy, and compliance as it relates to ESSER funding.
  • Remains current on laws and requirements regarding each program, and meets with related staff to interpret and implement regulations as it relates to attracting and hiring.
  • Conduct periodic recruitment audits of ESSER documentation for compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures (local, state, and federal).
  • Provide exemplary support to organizational leaders as their recruitment strategy and talent attraction expert.
  • Maximize School Support Partners and Instructional Leadership to ensure that we hire a diverse cohort of the strongest talent available to meet the demand of KIPP Texas Public Schools. Coordinate with portfolio leaders to accurately represent priority of needs and ensure leads are cultivated quickly and effectively to the point of hire. As needed, coordinate with lead generation strategies to design and staff events that generate leads. Manage recruiters to conduct referral campaigns and act swiftly to maximize the conversion of referrals to new hires. Demonstrate ability to adjust the strategy of cultivation of and allocation of leads to meet highest priority needs.
  • Ensure a high-quality candidate experience. Facilitates best-in-class interactions with KIPP in all forms of communication and interaction, such as email correspondence, phone correspondence, and virtual and in-person events.
  • Work with other Recruitment Teams and Organizational leaders to manage the allocation of portfolios of recruitment work to ensure KIPP Texas maximizes our resources while focusing on roles that are critical for the school's success in an evolving climate.
  • Serves as an organizational leader on recruitment strategy and the workforce market, providing insight and expertise to strategic planning as well as organizational values-driven initiatives and plans.
  • Operate with exemplary team spirit with eagerness to demonstrate flexibility and contribute to the overall needs of the team as they arise. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of ESSER grant requirements.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with other departments or stakeholders. Required Education and/or Experience:
      • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
      • 3 + years of managerial experience
      • 2 + years experience leading organization or division-wide initiatives
      • Must have a proven record of success and excellence through innovation and personal commitmentAdditional InformationFunding:The Director, Talent Recruitment-SSP & ESSER will be funded directly from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants awarded by the Texas Education Agency under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (ESSER II) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ESSER III). This position will be funded solely ( 100% ) from the ESSER II and III allocation for administrative expenses through September 30, 2023, and may continue to be funded through September 30, 2024, depending upon the availability of ESSER grant funds. At the end of the grant period, this position may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to maintain this position or a similar position. The employee must sign this job description acknowledging receipt of the job description and signing their acknowledgment that this position is grant funded and is temporarily aligning with the terms of the grant period.Compensation and Benefits: As a full time KIPP Texas employee you are eligible to participate in all KIPP Texas' benefit plans.
