Job Description:
The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI),
established in 1911, is a nongovernmental, not-for-profit
international organization dedicated to addressing the needs and
rights of refugees and immigrants. USCRI, working with nearly 200
affiliates, provides legal, social, and health services to
refugees, unaccompanied migrating children, trafficking survivors,
and other immigrants in all 50 states, El Salvador, Honduras,

Program Assistant will provide support to new refugees served by
the USCRI – Dallas Field Office. Through the provision of direct
services, Program Assistant will arrange services for new refugees
and support them during the resettlement period. This position
reports to the Senior Field Office Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES Arrange housing, healthcare, social services,
service providers and interpretation for newly arriving refugees in
the Houston area; Maintain case files, submit written reports as
required; Provide cross-cultural information, orient refugee
families to their new community, and ensure a smooth process of
resettlement; Work to connect clients with supportive community
networks and support systems to ensure their long-term integration
in the community; Ensure that refugees are being served in a
linguistically and culturally appropriate manner and provide
education and advocacy when necessary; and Perform other
job-related duties as assigned by supervisor. All of the above

as required by the supervisor(s). REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES High
School degree required; undergraduate degree preferred; Experience
in case management or social work preferred;
Bilingual/multi-lingual preferred. Ability to work as a team member
and independently, with high level of self-motivation; Ability to
work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, and
follow projects through without loss of attention to detail;
Ability to work independently as well as be a team player;
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability
and relationship building; Proficient in Microsoft Office;
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis;
Must have a valid State issued driver's license, insurance, clean
driving record and personal transportation; Demonstrated support of
USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of
confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural
workplace; and Dedication to the human rights of refugees,
immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people. TRAINING
REQUIREMENTS Satisfactory Completion of USCRI’s Orientation and
Training; and Complete additional training as identified by
supervisor(s), program director or Human Resources PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity; Use of
repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and
sustained visual and mental applications and demands; Lifting (up
to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying;
Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction,
multiplication, division, standard measurements); and Reasonable
