Position Description:

We are seeking a WordPress Developer responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding design, element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is strongly preferred. Also, an experience with the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment is preferred.

The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver who will work in coordination with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain our next generation websites and web tools. You'll be comfortable working as part of a team while taking lead on new innovations and projects.

    Objectives and Responsibilities:
    • Create designs and visuals for the website (WordPress)
    • Revise, edit, proofread & optimize web content
    • Work with cross-functionally to enhance overall user experience of our platforms
    • Own various design tasks involved in the web development life cycle from start to finish
    • Work with Visual Studio Code/WP Bakery and WordPress to code and develop new pages and design of the website. Our homepage templates are typically hard coded
    • Stay aligned with the company's SEO, SEM and PPC goals and help drive that in alignment with the website and pages
    • Designing and implementing new features and functionality
    • Establishing and guiding the website's architecture
    • Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS. All our websites score very high on google page speed, we expect custom themes that you develop to also score high in the 90's
    • Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin.
    • Speaking with clients and extracting their vision into comps/mockups

      Requirements

      Skills and Qualifications:
      • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Adobe Photoshop)
      • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities.
      • Strong understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
      • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
      • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
      • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firefox DevTools, Chrome inspector, etc.
      • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
      • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
      • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
      • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools ((such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial
      • Solid SSH experience is a huge plus
      • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
      • Proficient with page builders i.e. Visual Composer Pro/WP Bakery
      • Ability to work independently in a decentralized environment, without the reliance of direct authority
      • Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics
      • High level of initiative, accountability, and follow-through
      • Value strong teamwork and collaboration skills

        Required Minimum Education and Experience:
        • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science
        • At least 6+ years of using WordPress
        • Proficiency in at least one server-side technology
        • Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work
