The Opportunity:
The Software Development Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Lead Software Engineers responsible for building and enhancing the next evolution of our API strategy built around FHIR standards for interoperability. - This position will be accountable for communicating and driving individual, team and department goals that ultimately deliver high quality software. - In addition, this position requires strong relationships with the scrum masters, product owners and QA managers to stay abreast of the development team expectations. - They will also assist with providing visibility into trending issues to help drive project prioritization. -A successful candidate will be detail oriented and able to effectively manage multiple parallel development streams.
Major Tasks, Duties, Responsibilities:


  • Lead or participate in high complexity projects to create new features and enhancements to support market needs as well as their maintenance.
  • Lead or participate in activities such as R&D, prototypes, pilot implementations, and road mapping to support company initiatives.
  • Aggressive continuous learning of both tried and true as well as new techniques and technologies applicable to software development is expected. - Both depth and breadth of learning is expected.
  • Expectation of accountability for the technical design aspects of various system modules.
  • Strong understanding of multiple architecture discipline areas (Application, Data, Security, Integration, etc.).
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining efficient and responsive engineering team members, including

    • Employee education
    • Process improvement
    • 24x7 coverage

    • The ability to influence a wide range of people including but not limited to other team members, other teams, management, and members of other departments is expected.
    • Excellent ability to communicate, both orally and in writing.
    • Excellent team player and leadership skills.
    • Self-directed and motivated.
    • Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators
    • Provide company communication on current high severity incidents
    • Align team goals with business objectives
    • Ensure team is compliant to HIPAA/HITECH policies

      Education/Experience

      • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related degree is required.
      • Minimum of 8 years of software development experience in API development
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading engineering teams
      • Core competencies include leadership, customer relations, performance management, process management, data analysis, problem solving, effective communication, business acumen, and technical aptitude
      • Familiarity and comfort with agile software development principles and practices
      • Self-starter with a proven track record of driving customer success and aligning complex customer solutions at the executive and department levels
      • Experience with .NET, C#, SQL and Azure required
      • Experience building RESTful APIs required
      • Outstanding cross-organization collaboration skills
      • Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines
      • Superior communication skills (verbal and written) and well-developed presentation skills
      • A strong, passionate, optimistic, global team leader with a "will do" attitude that is contagious
      • Healthcare experience is a plus
      • Experience with the following technologies is a definite plus:

        • Git
        • Docker
        • Kubernetes
        • Azure
        • Design Patterns such as MVC, Dependency Injection
        • Unit testing
        • Continuous Integration and Deployment
        • Queueing Technologies
        • Secure Coding Techniques
        • HL7 / FHIR
