Job Description:

You'll work as part of the global McKinsey Transformation (MT) practice. There will be flexibility in the location of this role, with MT hiring in multiple offices across North America for Associates focused on transformation and restructuring

MT focuses exclusively on holistic transformations and corporate turnarounds, with a goal of helping clients drive rapid and dramatic performance improvement. We hire experienced professionals from industry, private equity, and the restructuring ecosystem to work with our Firm's global network of industry and function experts. Together, colleagues collaborate with clients to execute the steps needed to achieve extraordinary change.

In the Associate role, you will have the opportunity to work on teams and help large scale organizations in the world - across the private, public, and social sectors - solve some of their most difficult problems. MT has both dedicated consultants and generalist consultants among our global affiliates and we serve clients in more than 50 countries. Many of our clients are among the largest impact situations for the firm globally.

You will you will operate as part of an engagement team, typically consisting of a team of 2-5 consultants led by an engagement manager.

Together you will drive the day to day execution of a transformation effort to help clients achieve new performance highs in their business. You will use the MT "recipe", which applies a holistic, execution-centric approach, and provides clients with interim management and transformation leadership capabilities. Your client engagements will often span >6 months months, and they will include three phases: Independent Diligence Phase (6-8 weeks), Bottom Up Phase (6-8 weeks), and Implementation (6-12+ months).

You'll work directly with clients - usually on site - and will take ownership of specific workstreams and end products within the overall project. You will be responsible for delivering the transformation process within your workstream, coaching your clients to develop and execute effective improvement plans, and role modeling a mindset of rapid decision-making focused on improving performance and health. Above all, your job will be to mobilize your clients to achieve and sustain performance that they would never have thought possible.

More broadly, you will have the opportunity to build on your proven capabilities and leverage a range of influencing styles, ranging from respected "hard-edge" manager to motivational coach. You will inspire others, build strong relationships and display high energy and resilience in ambiguous and faced-paced contexts. In a collaborative team setting, you'll work closely with others but will also - after appropriate apprenticeship - be expected to operate autonomously with limited direction to drive progress in your area of accountability.
