Title Underwriting Paralegal
 
Job Summary:

Responsible for reviewing legal documents for real estate closings, including but not limited to Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Entity documents, 1031 exchange documentation. Additionally, provides assistance to the Legal Team for matters which may include the resolution of curative matters, training, and less complex title insurance claims. Supports the legal team in departmental and inter-departmental initiatives such as audit responses, regulatory filings, and research projects. Provides customer service to insureds and affiliated team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review of trusts, powers of attorney, and business entities for insurability under the direction of National Underwriting Counsel.
  • Support Legal Department initiatives, department of insurance audits, training, and other research project responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Investigate and analyze claims, as needed, to determine whether the company has a liability for the losses and expenses.
  • Effectively communicate with insureds, third parties, and underwriters on Legal Department matters.
  • Provide assistance with the correction of title related transaction document errors.

Requirements

Required Education:
  • Prefer college degree from a 4-year college or university or equivalent.
Required Experience:
  • Related Functional Experience: Minimum of 3 years paralegal/legal
  • Broad knowledge of title insurance, claims and commercial law areas (i.e. litigation, construction, insurance, contracts, real estate).
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • High level of initiative
This position is located in Coppell, TX
