Kelly-- is seeking an organized and customer service friendly professional for part time work at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
**Job Title:** Library Front Desk Specialist
**Job Summary:**
This position will be responsible for maintaining superior customer service with front line operations including performing general circulation functions supporting students, staff, faculty, and visitors. The position reports to the Head of Access Services and User Experience Librarian.
**Essential Functions:**
The position performs a range of public support functions that include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Respond to general inquiries in-person and on the phone.
+ Conduct circulation procedures including charge and discharge books, processing holds, and updating patron accounts.
+ Provide patron assistance with library equipment.
+ Assist with opening and closing the library.
+ Coordinate and delegate tasks to student assistants as needed.
+ Perform other duties as assigned such as processing new books, locate materials for course reserves, or scanning pages for document delivery.
**Education and Experience:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent
+ A minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated customer service experience. Experience in an academic library with Alma system is preferred.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Working knowledge of library methods and procedures.
+ Operate basic library and office equipment including computer, copier, printers, and microfiche/film reader.
+ Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making techniques.
+ Ability to prioritize with multiple activities or interruptions at once and work positively and effectively within a team model.
**Hourly Pay Rate, Schedule, Work Location:**
+ Pay Rate: $17/hr (paid weekly)
+ Work Location: SMU Main Campus: Dallas, TX
+ Start Date: November 2021
+ Part time temporary assignment expected to last 3 months with possibility of extension
+ Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday-Thursday (24-hour work week)
+ Monday- 3 p.m. - 10 p.m. (7 hours)
+ Tuesday- 11 a.m. - 6 p.m (7 hours)
+ Wednedsay-11 a.m. - 6 p.m (7 hours)
+ Thursday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. (7 hours)
