Technologist in our Radiology department and help with our

of our radiology team, the CT technologist will prepare and operate
the CT scan equipment, administer contrast materials, and work
collaboratively with physicians to meet the patient's needs. At UT

- Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and
applicability to selected CT protocol. Screen patients for contrast
allergies, contraindications, and appropriateness that would
prohibit or modify the CT exam. Communicate with Radiologists to
discuss stat/urgent findings. If modification of a CT protocol is
necessary consult with radiologist to determine appropriate CT
exam, and document changes in electronic health record. Ensure
other resources such as nursing, anesthesia, and scheduling are in
order.
- Interview patient (two patient identifier), conduct patient
screening and obtain medical history pertaining to procedure's
clinical criteria. Explain procedure and instructs patient on
necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images. Answer
questions, screening, and administration for oral and IV contrast
for relevant exams. Administer intravenous injections of contrast
material as appropriate, while observing patients for adverse
reactions. Assist the physician as needed in performing procedures.
Ensure that images and information are properly documented with
patient identification data and appropriate labeling. Utilize
technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and
in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria.
Complete exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner.
Perform CT exams ensuring that patient meets radiation safety
requirements to ALARA principles. Assist patient in dressing for
exam and attends to patient's physical well-being while
transporting to and from exam room and positioning for exam.
Instruct/communicate with patient and/or patient's family regarding
tests to be performed and evaluate the patient's ability to
tolerate.
- Perform QC testing and report problems with CT system and
workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with additional
correspondence sent to the physicist and imaging leadership.
- Maintain various QA compliances including ACR requirements (ex.
daily, monthly, yearly QC) and archives. Participate in
accreditation imaging requirements. Must be able to lift
40-50lbs.
- Respond to inquiries/calls/emails in a timely and professional
manner. Utilize the organizational culture behaviors to include
PACT and AIDET. Actively participate in codes and rapid responses.
Communicate shift hand off regarding workflow issues with equipment
or pending exams with oncoming staff. Engage in equitable
distribution of departmental workloads.
- Actively participate in providing orientation and training for
new hires and students ensuring that procedures are performed
according to set standards.
- Function in the department as a part of an interdisciplinary
team and collaborate in the care and service delivery process of
patient care through effective communication with other service
lines.
- Prioritize exams with scheduling exams to ensure smooth
workflow, minimize wait times and address stat requests.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, competencies,
regulatory compliance, infection control, hospital education, new
yearly metrics/department goals, patient satisfaction, and fiscally
responsible with regards to equipment, supplies scheduling,
overtime, etc.
- Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and ensures that all
processes and procedures are maintained to secure and protect all
workstations in all work areas.Qualifications
Experience and Education
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (CT)
required
- Licensed by Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologic
Technologist
- BLS/CPR by American Heart Association for Healthcare (AHA) or
American Red Cross (ARC) • Associates degree in Radiologic Sciences
or Graduate from AMA approved school
- Bachelor's degree preferred
