Job Overview:The Sr Principal IT Architect is responsible for the design and alignment of the sales effectiveness portfolio specific solutions to the current enterprise architecture principles focusing on reusing existing capabilities in solutions and services and balancing functional and non-functional requirements with necessary prioritizations and compromises.The solutions architect proactively and holistically supports Enterprise Architecture (EA) activities that guide the development and management of the portfolio of solutions. Solutions include systems (including applications, technologies, processes, and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services.Scope of Activities
The Solutions Architect demonstrates competencies across four key dimensions:
Interpret Business Needs

  • Understands the business goals of the Commercial organization; objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, business processes and their importance in solution architecture.
  • Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work
  • Identify and incorporate non-functional requirements into the architecture blueprint
    Assess Technology
    • Provides the necessary leadership and analysis to support the development of technology solutions that meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards.
    • Monitors the current-state Sales Effectiveness solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through the aging of the technologies used, or the misalignment with business requirements.
    • Supports product managers in end-of-life product decisions to maintain, refresh or retire services or systems, including applications, technologies, processes, and information.
    • Understands emerging technology trends in the Commercial space, including retail execution, B2B, B2C, trade promotions management, CRM and other disruptions and their practical application to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
      Apply Technology
      • Leads evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of a solution architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements and enterprise standards.
      • Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects or products, working closely with application architects that manage and design architecture for a single project or product or initiative.
      • Develops a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise solution portfolio from current to future state, as defined by the solutions architecture.
        Supports Enterprise Architecture Guidance
        • Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and architecture designs to support architectural governance to assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and IT.
        • Supports the community of practice (SaCoP), guiding and helping agile teams, product owners to align with the overall enterprise architecture governance and assurance.
        • Reviews and identifies the gaps in the solution designs, assesses and defines remediation efforts or mitigation options.
        • Ensures solutions effectively leverage Platform products and services.Requirements:
          • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information-technology, engineering, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
          • Minimum of 8 years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development.
          • Participation in a minimum of 2 full software lifecycle implementations, from idea, vendor selection, implementation, and transition to production support.
          • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms, and processing environments.
          • Good understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models.
          • Knowledge of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact, and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt.
          • Preference given to those with experience working with technology specific to the Commercial business, such as CRM, Retail Execution, Trade Promotions Management / Revenue Growth Management, B2B, B2C. Examples could include but are not limited to Salesforce, Oracle Engagement Cloud, SAP.
          • Familiarity with master data management concepts, specifically for product, customer, and customer hierarchies
          • Experience working in the CPG industry is preferred. Direct Store Delivery (DSD) experience is especially helpful.
          • Experience working with business processes supporting a Commercial organization is preferred. This includes working with frontline sales teams, as well as back-office support teams.
          • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally across other functional verticals and horizontals, including but not limited to Enterprise Architecture, data and analytics, infrastructure, integration services, supply chain, HR and finance.
          • Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.
