UWorld's team is growing! We are seeking a Scientific Video Editor, Contractor that will take detailed storyboards on dense scientific concepts and translate them into engaging, entertaining content lectures. The role will ask you to work with high efficiency and think creatively. A successful candidate will have outstanding video editing skills and extensive knowledge of medicine and the biological sciences.

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor's degree (teaching or scientific illustration is a plus)
  Minimum Experience:
  
  • Minimum two years of experience in digital multimedia creation and editing
  • Exceptional proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (ie. Final Cut Pro, Media Encoder, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    
    • Confidently work in an environment with high expectations
    • Research and comprehend advanced scientific concepts
    • Be receptive to continuous feedback from peers and management
    • Have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Develop new skills rapidly
    • Post-production editing, preparation, and coordination of material, and rendering quality videos
    • Experience working in 3D (zbrush, cinema 4d, maya), UCSF Chimera is a plus but not required
      
      Job Responsibilities:
      
      Design and Create
      
      • Create engaging videos for cutting edge online courses such as Biology, Physics Chemistry and Psychology
      • Analyze scripts and storyboards and form animation strategies
      • Communicate with Content Producers and peer editors on video edits
      • Edit video content adhering to style guidelines
      • Import and transcode 4K footage, color correct and sound balance
      • Master a non-standard workflow using a mix of custom templates, layered illustrations, and key-framing
      • Build efficient timelines with revisions in mind
      • Edit and alter illustrations as needed
      • Communicate efficiently with remote teams and can follow sprint deadlines, delivering video content every week.
      • Utilize a library of 3D and 2D assets
      • Ensure artistic excellence and factual accuracy of the animated work
        Consult and Collaborate
        
        • Collaborate with our teams to create novel ways of visualizing difficult concepts
        • Collaborate with management and team members to define schedules and deliverables, and to ensure goals are met
        • Help maintain an efficient and successful production process
        • Adapt to shifting priorities and be able to assist our on-site medical and scientific illustrators as needed
          Technical/Quality Assurance
          
          • Communicate effectively with IT & quality assurance teams to anticipate and resolve issues
          • Work independently or in small groups to trouble-shoot and provide solutions to production issues related to creation and content building
