Job Description:
ABOUT THE ROLE Safety Specialists work closely with field staff,
clients and subcontractors, all levels of management, and personnel
from external organizations during all phases of electric
construction projects. Safety Specialists must be committed to
ensuring adherence to safety-related policies, procedures, and
regulations while developing positive professional relationships.
This is a location-based position encompassing worksites throughout
the assigned project area and requires varying amounts of travel.
Company Overview Founded in 1977, Great Southwestern Construction,
Inc., a subsidiary of MYR Group Inc, started as a small general
contractor performing high voltage utility work in Colorado,
Arizona and New Mexico. Today, Great Southwestern has the ability
to perform high voltage construction and renewable energy
construction throughout the country. Areas of expertise include
transmission line construction, substation construction,
distribution construction and renewable energy projects. Essential
Functions Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document
safety behaviors and work conditions to ensure a safety focus
throughout all phases of electric construction projects Coordinate
with Operations teams to create site-specific safety plans;
actively participate in safety meetings to review job hazard
analysis and hazard recognition tools Participate in project kick
off and progress meetings Supporting client-specific safety
requirements programs and ensure alignment and compliance between
client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety
regulations Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal
regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational
health and safety Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding
safety practices and behaviors on an ongoing basis Conduct
proactive behavior-based and quality-focused field safety
observations and PPE hazard assessments Partner with Safety, Safety
Training & Operations teams to schedule or facilitate required
employee trainings: New hire orientation, OSHA ETD Quarterly
refresher training, Customer required training, Post-incident
training as part of a Corrective Action Plan, and Participate in
site-specific safety planning. Conduct accident/injury
investigations including root cause analyses Provide support to
Operations organization for incident case management and
documentation steps Follow-up with Operations organization to
ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and
incidents Support company safety committees by assisting in
assessment of safety performance trends, implementing process, and
tool improvements Regular and predictable attendance Other duties
as assigned Essential functions of this position are to be
performance at a Company-designated office or field location
Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct
and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical
conduct standards. ABOUT YOU Qualifications Minimum 2 years of
experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles
is required High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
Minimum of one (1) safety certification is preferred, examples
include: Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) Construction
Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Safety Management Specialist
(SMS), Specialist in Safety and Health (SSH), or Certified Safety
Professional (CSP) Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or
related field preferred; combination of relevant experience and
education considered in lieu of degree Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Problem-solving and situation analysis skills Proficiency with MS
Office Suite programs, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to
influence behavior Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and
other industry-related safety regulations Must be a team player
able to work with co-workers, different departments and outside
contacts and maintain strong relationships Attentiveness to details
Organizational skills Ability to work independently Basic
understanding of electric construction project management practices
and procedures Ability to travel for job site visits for extended
periods of time WHAT WE OFFER Compensation & Benefits Salary
commensurate with experience and weekly pay. Posted salary ranges
are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust
ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
(Colorado Posting Only) Two days per week remote work option for
non-field roles depending on position and performance. Medical,
