Benefits Specialist - Job Description
Scout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires,
operates and improves upstream conventional oil and gas properties
for institutional investors. Scout's business is both the
management of private energy funds and the operation of the oil and
gas assets it owns. The current employee base is approximately 1000
with 175 employees in the Dallas (HQ) office.
Scout is seeking a Benefits Specialist to manage the day-to-day
administration of employee benefit plans company wide. The role
will be responsible for implementing all benefit programs and
initiatives, and aim to improve and expand benefit offerings for
the firm. This position will be located at Scout's Dallas office
and will report to Scout's Vice President of Human Resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead in the planning, development, renewal & administration of
Scout's benefit programs
- Oversee continued rollout and management of our new wellness
program, Scout Strong
- Prepare and communicate information to employees about benefit
programs, procedures, changes, and government-mandated
disclosures
- Resolve employee questions and concerns by interpreting benefit
policies and procedures to ensure quick, courteous resolutions
- Manage special and/or recurring benefit projects (e.g.,
acquisition or divestiture), which may involve outside consultants
and other internal department employees
- Evaluate the competitiveness of benefit programs in partnership
with Scout's benefits broker to conduct periodic benchmarking
analysis, research market practices and summarize survey
information to support benefit recommendations
- Support decision-making process by analyzing benefit options &
predicting future costs
- Manage annual Open Enrollment, including communication
materials, leadership of meetings at HQ and field locations, &
communication of annual changes with key vendors
- Handle benefits billing and appropriate reconciliation of
self-funded plan reporting
- Administer all leaves of absence as required for FMLA and
short-term disability
- Manage compliance for ACA regulations, 5500 reporting,
etc.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal
requirements by studying existing laws and regulations and updates
to legal requirements
Skills & Specifications
- Extensive knowledge of benefits, compliance requirements, &
applicable laws/legislation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in benefits administration
- Experience with self-funded plans strongly preferred
