Job Description:

In-Sync Exotics is a 501(c) non-profit organization, the vision for In-Sync Exotics started in 1998 and was officially established in 2000. As a non-profit organization we are dedicated to the rescue of neglected, abused and unwanted exotic felines. It is our dream that one day there will be no need for rescue facilities, but until that day happens, we will continue to educate the public on the unique attributes and characteristics of our residents; the realities of irresponsible and/or illegal exotic wild animal ownership and captive breeding; and the need for stronger and enforceable legislation against those who abuse exotic wild animals. The internship program is designed to help expand your knowledge and experience to capture as much experience as possible in the 12 weeks that you are here. There are many items that are covered in the program, including, but not limited to: Cleaning enclosures, bowls and buckets Preparing animal diets/feeding cats Enrichment for the cats Helping with special events/tours Building new enclosures/maintenance Observation of animal training sessions/medical care/daily behavior Record keeping Internship requirements- Must be 18 years or older Must have completed or working towards a degree in an animal related field Must be of good health and physical endurance Must be able to lift 50-60 pounds 12 week requirement (minimum) Internship Sessions- Fall- app deadline 7-15; intern Sept-Nov Winter- app deadline 10-15; intern Dec-Feb Spring- app deadline 1-15; intern March-May Summer- app deadline 3-15: intern June- Aug Applications are accepted year-round for all terms. Preference will be given to those received by the application target dates; however, applications received after the target date may still be considered if the positions have not yet been filled. We do work as a team; staff/interns/volunteers alike, all participate in making sure the facility is ran at the utmost highest regard. This is the cats and honorary cats home for the rest of their life. It is extremely important that the interns understand that we expect you to be focused, mature, responsible, hardworking, willing to work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, able to work in a team environment, dependable and able to follow all instructions; as well as having a love and respect for the animals. Questions are always welcomed and encouraged as you will learn more and gain knowledge from doing so. Responsibilities will grow with time, and will be based on your overall experience and level of commitment. There is a lot of work that goes into the internship program. There are long hours to the day, can be 40-50 hours or more per week; work time begins at 8 AM and ends once end of days procedures are completed or you are released by staff. There is no set end time of the day. Also if you are feeding that evening, depending on how the day goes there may not be a long period between end of days and beginning of feeding. It is recommended that you always have food on hand for such cases. We do have housing availability on site for interns that will have this need, however space is limited. The internship does have a stipend. You are required to fund your own personal requirements, i.e. food, laundry supplies, clothing, bathroom supplies; however we will supply t-shirts/tank tops/long sleeved shirts (depending on season) for you to wear during your work times. It is important to point out that our cats, while sometimes very affectionate, are still very dangerous predators. We have many safety precautions in place to prevent our cats from harming anyone, which include physical barriers such as double-fenced and fully-roofed enclosures, and also include strictly enforced rules for all. Please be aware that your access to the cats will be strictly controlled, both for your safety, and for the safety of our cats. Job Type: Internship Salary: $0.00 /hour
