Job Description:
Hillwood Construction Services provides general contracting and
construction management services -in the United States. The company
began in December 2000 as an industrial general contractor focusing
on industrial warehouse and distribution facilities. Over the
years, Hillwood Construction Services has diversified and expanded
into many project types, from corporate headquarters to hangars,
churches, Class-A office developments, hotels and tenant interiors.
Position Summary: - The Director of Safety represents the company
as an industry expert. This position oversees all aspects of
health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs for the company to
ensure compliance with and implementation of health, safety and
environmental programs, policies and procedures that adhere to
corporate specifications. Responsibilities:
- Identifies and establishes HSE programs, guidelines and
standards that support the company's business plans and are
compliant with all regulations
- Deploys HSE processes that demonstrate continuous improvement
in HSE stewardship
- Develops annual operating planning and corporate governance
processes, including audits, compliance initiatives, government
reporting, and identification of best practice initiatives
- Establishes key metrics for a specific segment of the business
that drive the effectiveness of the HSE program across the
company
- Ensures appropriate staffing and HSE education/training efforts
for all project teams within area of responsibility
- Monitors and reports on relevant changes in applicable OHS
(Occupational Health & Safety) and environmental
regulations/requirements related to Hillwood Construction
operations
- Audit jobsite safety reports, and implementation of safety
elements at the jobsite
- Conduct and follow up on accident / incident investigations,
ensure appropriate corrective actions identified
- The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the
general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.

based on the positions' role within the business unit.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of experience, with majority of the experience
on major commercial construction projects
- Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Health, Safety,
Environmental or Construction Management
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) through BCSP required
- OSHA 500 Certification preferred
- Strong ability to lead multiple teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and with experience presenting to
ownership and operational entities
- Strong organizational, record-keeping and follow-up skills
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team
player
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing
priorities as necessary
- Travel is required 20-40% of the time to visit regional offices
and projects
- Must have working knowledge of industry standard software and
technology
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position
within the complex nature of large scale commercial construction
