• Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
• Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs. Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
• Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.
• Possesses extensive engineering experience and knowledge.
• Typically requires a master's degree in electrical engineering.
• Typically reports to a manager.
• Typically requires 12+ years of related experience with 10+ related to TxDOT or US DOT.
• Achievement and depth of knowledge of specialization or field is the main differentiator.
• Advisory role on complex and challenging projects and initiatives.
• Recognized for deep technical and industry knowledge and innovative thinking.
• Provides thought leadership and guidance to a functional area and the organization.Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, and startup activities of capital projects
  • Mentor electrical engineers and contractors, and oversee technology development, including budgets and resource planning
  • Responsible for system upgrades in electrical power generation, distribution systems, low voltage, and electrical machinery
  • Ensure well hook-up and medium voltage electrical system, installation, start-up, and commissioning are conducted safely and efficiently
  • Work with the design teams to deliver seamless project construction work packages Interact with technical engineers and non-technical operations personnel to integrate new technologies and update existing systems
  • Serve as the Electrical FE point contact for FE work within an assigned area
  • Must be a PE
  • 12+ years applicable work experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment strongly preferred Assist in maintaining Variable Frequency Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers, Instrumentation, Process computers and related equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints and diagrams
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical applications, electrical applications, and common industrial processes
  • Proficient in MS Office programs - Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • 2 - 4 years previous experience and/or knowledge with AutoCAD and reading blueprints
  • Strong background with technical writing to be able to write documents for operations and maintenance, explaining new or modified equipment
  • Experienced with field work and understanding the customer's needs Ability to work within project scope and budget
  • Ability to lead a project from design through installation and start up, including associated operational and maintenance training
  • Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English language in verbal and written communicationEducation Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related disciplineRequired Certifications:
