Baker International is seeking a Transportation Planning Department
Manager to support growth and diversify its multimodal and public
transportation planning services throughout the State of Texas.
This position will be located in the Dallas Office. This is an
exciting marquee career opportunity to work in a leadership
capacity with one of the preeminent transportation planning firms
in Texas to focus on multimodal transportation
development/improvement, community outreach, partnership building,
and engineering to enhance mobility and increase local and regional
resiliency. You will work closely with federal, state and local
governments and transportation agencies to conduct
performance-based planning and develop innovative transportation
solutions.The Department Manager will work with a dynamic and
diverse team of certified planners, transportation engineers, urban
designers, environmental scientists to support Michael Bakers
extensive and growing portfolio of transportation, urban,
statewide, and regional planning projects and services.You will
utilize knowledge and skills to develop corridor planning studies,
reports,and preliminary (schematic) engineering plans and
estimates. This position will collaborate with the Business
Development team and will work closely with our Texas offices in
strategic pursuit planning, stakeholder outreach, proposal
development, and project management execution.The successful
candidate will be expected to:
- Consult with clients to ascertain and define needs or problem
areas and determine scope of investigation required to obtain
solutions
- Advise clients and MBI engineers on alternative conceptual
designs and methods of solving needs or problems and recommend
specific solution(s)
- Understand and incorporate in project approaches and
deliverables the appropriate regulatory requirements for planning
studies
- Conduct research and prepare technical planning reports
- Lead multi-discipline project teams comprised of planning and
design staff to meet project and client needs on time and within
budget
- Perform a moderate level of travel
- Execute project scopes while successfully managing project
schedules, budgets, and resources
- Become an active participant in local professional
organizations and work towards securing a leadership role on
Board(s) or Committee(s)
- Identify potential business development opportunities that
address an industry challenge; brings recognition to Michael Baker
on a local and regional basis; and helps to maintain and expand
Michael Bakers Transportation Planning presence in Texas
- Lead proposal, interview, fee development and negotiations for
various key project pursuits
- Build relationships with other managers in the Texas and with
other key managers companywide
- Recruit and attract individuals to Michael Baker and help build
team members careers
- Collaborate with Texas office representatives and the Regional
Leadership team regarding staff assignments, workshare, mentorship,
business pursuits, and feedback on quality of project
deliverables
- Collaborate with our office and regional leaders to grow
Michael Bakers transportation planning practice with a primary
focus on Texas clientsPROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or non-engineering
related field and 15+ years of direct or related transportation
planning experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Texas
required
- AICP Certification a plus
- Knowledge of multimodal transportation planning, alternatives
development, traffic analysis and preliminary (schematic)
engineering
- Extensive experience in corridor planning studies for existing
and new routes
- Effective communication skills with ability to build
relationships with all stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills and ability to generate business
opportunities with existing and prospective clients predominately
in the Texas market
- Proven relationships withTxDOT, regional transportation
authorities, and municipal clients
- TxDOT Precertifications in key categories
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteCOMPENSATIONThe
approximate compensation range for this position is $137,735 to
$204,887. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the
position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent
upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience,
skillset, and physical work location.#LI-JR1
