Construction Quality Manager The Quality Manager strives to assure and control quality in all aspects of Katerra Construction. Key responsibilities include inspecting workmanship of field construction and factory building components such as trusses and partially completed wall panels, cabinets and countertops, and MEP subassemblies. The candidate will be required to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of workmanship standards and methods and best practices for foundation construction, framing, fenestration installation, water-/weather-proofing and insulation, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) installation, and interior finishing. Actively participate in the review of construction drawings and specifications for constructability, technical accuracy, project specific code requirements, construction detail development, and value-engineering opportunities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Coordinate with on-site managers and craft personnel to inspect and report: * Quality of workmanship in construction and installation * Code compliance concerns of work as performed * Coordinate with factory managers and staff to advise: * Proper standards, methods, and systems for construction * Code compliance demonstration methods and requirements * Coordinate training and establish collaboration to provide opportunities to enhance skills and achieve higher levels of workmanship and code compliance * Demonstrate proper construction practices and methods to guide on-site and factory staff * Coordinate with CQMI on Huddle 1, 2, 3 meetings * Demonstrated commitment to diversity, learning and successfully working in multicultural environments. Quality Control Inspections / Delivery Coordination * Panel Set: Quality Control and Construction Materials Group as needed * Building Envelope Conformance, including water testing: Quality Control, Building Envelope, Manufacturer rep (as required), and site field teams (required to secure manufacture warranty and as a component of final Katerra Construction LLC warranty) * Pre-manufactured structural components and MPE installations: Quality Control; shop drawing review of permitted document changes coordinated by Quality factory liaison and Factory associates * Window Installation: Quality / Building Envelope / Factory liaison * Framing substrates: All substrates to be inspected prior to receiving final material finish; these inspections are performed by the site field team and can be performed by Quality Control; they are to be considered standard practice and documented in Procore * Pre-Rock Inspection: Site field team and Jurisdictional building inspector * Zip tape and flashing field installed components: Quality Control, Building Envelope, and site field teams * Metal Flashing: Quality Control and Building Envelope associates * Door Thresholds: Quality Control, Building Envelope, and site field team * ADA Compliance: Quality Control and site field team * Finish Trade Inspection: Quality Control and site field team * Final Punch Inspection: Quality Control and site field team Required Skills & Experience * Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills * BA / Masters in Construction Management or equivalent * 5+ years of construction field experience, Master's degree in lieu of field experience is accepted * Strong working knowledge of IBC 2012, IRC 2012, IEC 2011, National Electrical Code * Must be able to understand construction plans and drawings * Ability to directly demonstrate trade workmanship first-hand * Good organizational skills for tracking Quality and Workmanship trends, training, etc. * Computer skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Smartsheet, Procore). * Work hours may include a non-standard work week. * Ability to Travel 50-75% of the time. * Demonstrated commitment to diversity, learning and successfully working in multicultural environments.
