Airgas is adding a Sales Manager to support their Specialty Products Division (ammonia) in the Central US. You will be supporting 6 Account Managers, who cover the Central 1/3 of the United States. We are an entrepreneurial company and need you to run the business like it is your own business. You will be responsible for helping your Account Managers enhance partnerships with their existing customers, building rapport and relationships with prospective customers and maintaining gross margin. You must have the ability to help your team convert prospects into long-term Airgas customers.
What will I be doing?

  • Lead and coach a team of 6 Account Managers. You will ensure they have a set business plan to grow and maintain their territory.
  • At times accompany the Account Manager on customer visits and sales calls. This includes looking for opportunities to reinforce relationships with our customer base and at times, driving new customer growth.
  • Develops growth budgets for your territory, taking into consideration normal growth expectations and regional requirements.
  • Review P&L's and offer suggestions to drive improvement. In doing so, you will need to balance between volume and margin to maximize your region's potential.
  • Handles account disputes in a manner consistent with Company policy, keeping the best interest of the customer and Airgas as a priority.
  • Establish a market based pricing structure.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal business relationships with Operations and Regional Support teams.
  • Represent Airgas at industry conferences and trade shows.
  • Remain flexible to take on other key assignments as requested.

    What skills must I possess?
    • Excellent communication skills are a must. This includes the ability to build rapport with customers, strong verbal skills and clearly articulated written communication.
    • Self-motivated, disciplined and able to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to concurrently deal with multiple projects and meet customer demands
    • Strong selling and negotiating skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to lead, develop and motivate employees.
    • You must be the undeniable team player, as you will work with all levels of senior management, your Account Managers, vendors and customers to research and implement effective promotions and attain goals.
    • Lastly, organizational skills, the ability to prioritize accurately and manage multiple tasks are key. You will be balancing many different customers and must excel in these areas.

      What education and experience do I need?
      • Bachelor's degree required. A related Scientific or Engineering degree is a plus.
      • Minimum 3-5 years' experience selling ammonia or other industrial chemicals in a B2B application.
      • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products is required.
      • Ability to travel frequently (60-70%) for customer meetings, team meetings, job site reviews, training, etc.
